BEHF Architects and its lighting consultant Designbüro Christian Ploderer have been awarded the 2021 LIT Lighting Design Awards – Winner in the category Hotel and Restaurant Lighting for the project KOLLER + KOLLER AM WAAGPLATZ Restaurant, and Honorable Mention for the project Hotel LE MÉRIDIEN VIENNA.
2021 LIT Lighting Design Awards – Winner: KOLLER + KOLLER AM WAAGPLATZ Restaurant
The listed restaurant is one of the city’s most historic buildings and restaurants, while also representing an important social and cultural facility for the city of Salzburg. After undergoing a significant six-month-renovation, KOLLER + KOLLER AM WAAGPLATZ has opened its doors with a brand new look.
BEHF Architects has envisioned a design strategy which brings in the 21st-century to the interior’s aesthetic, giving it a refreshing and contemporary update, and at the same time highlights the historic characteristics of the city’s iconic building from the 12th century.

2021 LIT Lighting Design Awards – Honorable Mention: Hotel LE MÉRIDIEN VIENNA
The design hotel Le Méridien Vienna, located on one of the most famous boulevards in the world, the great Wiener Ringstrasse, has undergone a complete refurbishment of the entire ground floor.
A great challenge for the architects has been to develop a new spatial structure and create a sleek and novel look for the reception area, which would provide better orientation and a cosmopolitan ambience. The design concept gives the hotel a new presence in the vibrant Vienna of today, while simultaneously creating a stronger connection to its historical background.
